ABOUT
Baritone Lars Eggen born 08.09.1984 is from the small village of Tylldalen in the eastern valleys of Norway and is now living in Trondheim. He has a bachelor and master´s degree from Institute for music at the N.T.N.U in Trondheim. He also has studied at the Conservatorio di Musica di Perugia and as a private student at the Hochschule für Musik in Köln.
After finishing his degree he has worked for several Norwegian district operas for example The Opera in Kristiansund, Steinvikholm Music Theatre, Opera Nordfjord, TSO Drama and Opera Omnia. He has also attended several international festivals like Yo! Opera Festival in Utrecht and Olavsfestdagene in Trondheim. He has sung with orchestras like Trondheim symphony orchestra and received scholarshops e.g. from the Sine Butenschiøns foundation and the Tom Wilhelmsen scholarship. He was one of the price winners at the International voice competition Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg in 2011.
Eggen has worked with a number of notable teachers and has taken part in courses and masterclasses in both Norway and beyond during his training and later. He has sung a variety of operatic rolls like Papageno in Die Zauberflöte, the leading role in Don Giovanni, Sacristano in Tosca, Marco in Gianni Schicci and several parts in modern operas like Thorko in Sötskolan (K. Rehnquist) and Kristoffer Rustung in Olav Engelbrektson (H. Sommero).
Eggen has also been involved in a variety of unusual rolls, latest amongst which was a production of 3×3, a musical drama for children, by Glenn-Erik Haugland, which has toured both Norway and Europe. This was released on CD in 2008. Eggen also has several church music pieces on his repertoire like Ein Deutsches Requiem by J. Brahms and Messa di Gloria by G. Puccini. Alongside with his wife (pianist and composer) they have produced several chamber operas like Snap – Shots (monodrama for one singer and a piano) and Gydjekniven for two singers and an one actor.
